I have been designing and developing websites since 2007, initially as a hobby and professionally since 2009. Web development is my second career which makes great use of my diagnostic and problem-solving skills. I am a retired Pediatric Emergency physician, avid xc skier, cyclist, trail runner, animal lover, closet techie geek, and web developer.
When I first started building websites, I learned HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and Adobe Creative Suites. After initially building websites for my friends and family, I volunteered to redevelop the website for a favorite nonprofit, farwestnordic.org. An issue that came up repeatedly in my discussions with business website owners is the need for end-user control over content without developer support. This led me to explore various content management systems. I found WordPress to be the most user friendly. WordPress is an open source content management system that is ever evolving, well supported, and infinity expandable and customizable. WordPress is THE leading content management system in use globally, and it’s ease of use and rich set of tools are creating an explosion in new WordPress sites. I started attending WordPress developer conferences where I met some of the WordPress community, fellow enthusiasts (geeks) with a passion for this solid foundation that offers room to grow. I started beta testing themes, plugins, and future WordPress releases and hold multiple developer licenses.
After receiving multiple requests to “go pro” from people who needed new websites and from people whose websites just weren’t working for them, I decided to transform my alias, digitalnordic, into my web design and development business specializing in WordPress websites. My clients have been very pleased and pleasantly surprised at how easy is it to maintain control over their website content. I’d be happy to put you in touch with recent clients so you can hear directly about their experiences.
